On Monday, August 23, 1999, the Innsbrook Resort Community became the first business of its kind in the continental United States to be certified as a cooperative sanctuary by Audubon International.
Innsbrook has a relationship with nature that's been crucial to its success. Now Innsbrook's rededication to nature is being celebrated at an international level. In 1997, the Innsbrook Resort Community and the Innsbrook Golf Course enrolled in a program through Audubon International to work toward becoming a certified a Audubon Sanctuary.
Innsbrook horticulturist Keith Thompson instigated the program for the Innsbrook Resort, while golf superintendent Ed Wachter started the program for the golf course. They have been assisted by a large group of Innsbrook property owners and employees.

Wildlife Inventory Program
Innsbrook is bustling with wildlife, and you can help us keep track of our feathered and four-legged friends by keeping a wildlife inventory sheet. On this sheet, you are to list all wildlife and their offspring, the date you encountered them, and the location within Innsbrook. You can return this sheet to the Conference Center Front Desk when it is full, or quarterly on January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1. The information we receive is used to estimate the number of a particular species, track their movements and alert us to any unusual population growth or decline. We appreciate your assistance in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program at Innsbrook.
