As summer comes to a close, it’s fun to look back on all the awesome events and activities Innsbrook property owners and their guests enjoyed during the warmer months. While Innsbrook offers an array of exciting happenings all throughout the year, summer is our busiest season and in wintertime, those memories of swimming, boating, outdoor concerts, parties, festivals, camp, and other summer favorites can help sustain us through the coldest months! Check out the video below for a visual look back at some of summer's highlights:
After Memorial Day, we kicked off the summer season with our popular Camp Innsbrook programming, which included Saturday family camp activities for all ages to enjoy together, as well as kids-only camps. Throughout June and July, families bonded over shared projects such as decorating cookies, learning to play water polo, hula dancing with Disney’s Moana, crafting, Jedi-training and playing Bingo. Kid campers had a blast at the Wet 'n’ Wild water balloon and slip n’ slide workshop, the Rockets and Flight STEM camp featuring paper airplane contests and box kite-making, Magic camp, Circus camp – including a performance for campers’ families - and the Paint Explosion messy art camp. Our weeklong children’s camps, Around Innsbrook in 80 Days (highlights included a reptile experience, beach day, and rock wall climbing) and our much-anticipated Horse camp both sold out! And in August, we rounded out our Camp Innsbrook events with a delicious ice cream social.
Fourth of July
Our Fourth of July events this year may just have been our best yet! The festivities began with a new favorite event – our first annual Wonderful Wanderfern Vessel Parade featuring property owners’ festively decorated pontoon boats. Spectators and participants had a blast, and we’ve been asked to be sure to make this a recurring event. The incredible fireworks truly wowed viewers with a spectacular show, opening to the tune of St. Louis’s unofficial anthem, Gloria, and prevalently featuring the colors blue, gold, and orange in a nod to the Blues’ Stanley Cup win. The remainder of the fireworks display showcased music from Hollywood film favorites.
In addition, many property owners and their guests were able to enjoy the delicious fireworks buffet, VIP tents, Patrons’ Party, and spending time with family and friends on the beach. Independence Day weekend also incorporated more fun family activities, like a holiday walk/run, a tennis tournament, a patriotic craft with the opportunity to write letters to residents of veterans’ homes and Wolly’s Watermelon Hunt, where sailors chased floating watermelons for prizes!
Summer Breeze concert series
Always a favorite, the Summer Breeze concert series brought a lot of talent to the stage for property owners and their guests – and kids, and even dogs –to enjoy under the stars on blankets or chairs. The popular summer concert series launched with dance music from Big Rain and wrapped up with classic hits from Butch Wax & The Hollywoods. The full lineup included live music in a relaxed environment from a variety of genres and decades, such as Billy Joel and Elton John favorites from the Midnight Piano Band, classic rock smashes from the 7th Planet Band, soulful songs from The Fabulous Motown Revue, country favorites by The Big Rigs, jazzy blues by the Bottoms Up Blues Gang, 80s favorites from The Breakfast Club, modern pop hits from The LustreLights, 70s and 80s favorites by the Garden Party Band, classic rock from the band Headknocker, dance and rock favorites from Trixie Delight, country crooning by Wildfire, and the musical stylings of our very own Dave Glover, of the Dave Glover Band!
This summer, we saw a revamped focus on special dining events, with a new lineup of delicious themed buffets, a mouthwatering new dinner menu and new Wine Wednesday and weekend specials at the Clubhouse Bar & Grille. From the much-acclaimed prime rib buffet, to the Clubhouse’s Hawaiian night, to the Aspen Center’s lobster-tail seafood buffet, the delectable dining options did not disappoint. Featured buffets this summer also included two barbecue events, the Flavor Day buffet, the Fireworks buffet, Italian and Mexican nights, a “breakfast for dinner” spread, the Creole buffet and more. Saturday night dinner specials offered at the Clubhouse included Caprese steak, mango salsa halibut, white wine grilled trout, T-bone steak, ribs, catfish, honey-glazed garlic salmon, tilapia piccata and garlic butter bacon scallops, just to name a few.
This summer marked the 19th year of the Innsbrook Institute’s Summer Music Academy and Festival, providing gifted young musicians ages 11 to 25 from around the world the unique opportunity for mentorship from world-class musicians, and affording property owners the chance to enjoy the works of world-renowned musicians in an intimate setting, with informal concert venues all around Innsbrook.
Innsbrook Founder Ed Boyce and his friend David Halen, the Concertmaster for the Saint Louis Symphony, formed the Innsbrook Institute in 2001. Today, the program’s roster of faculty and featured artists includes internationally recognized musicians like cellist Nathan Chan, violinist Chee-Yun Kim, tenor soloist and cellist Nathaniel Pierce, pianist Rohan DeSilva, violinist Fabiola Kim, pianist Henry Kramer, and other talented artists.
The Institute’s summer programming this year included chamber concerts featuring the music of different decades’ classic artists, student musician solo showcases, a Night at the Broadway concert, and a special tribute concert to honor Innsbrook founder Ed Boyce, with selections of Ed’s favorite tunes from classic films. Institute supporters also enjoyed a number of fundraisers and gatherings, such as a music and mimosas brunch, a ladies’ tea and fashion show, and an exclusive private patio dinner celebration. A favorite event proved to be the music, fun and food trucks celebration – so popular that the food truck line stretched from Innsbrook’s red barn to the mulberry tree! The Innsbrook Summer Music Festival and Academy’s 20th season will run June 12-20, 2020.
Moving into Fall
While fall has officially arrived - and summer weather is wrapping up - there is still much to look forward to as the seasons change. We are looking forward to Fall Fest, Fall Home Tour, the Property Owner Art Show, Thanksgiving festivities, our annual visit from Santa, and much more.
